The Opening Ceremony for the Class of 2024 at Nantong University's School of Microelectronics (School of Integrated Circuits) was held, with Shi Lei, Chairman and President of Tongfu Microelectronics, in attendance.

On the evening of September 25, Nantong University's School of Microelectronics (School of Integrated Circuits) held a grand opening ceremony for its Class of 2024, welcoming 257 new students as they embark on a new chapter in their lives. The ceremony was hosted by Lu Yujun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch and Vice Dean of the School of Microelectronics (School of Integrated Circuits). Shi Lei, Distinguished Visiting Dean of Nantong University's School of Microelectronics (School of Integrated Circuits), Chairman and President of Tongfu Microelectronics, was invited to attend the event.

Dean Shi Lei delivered a unique and inspiring first-class lecture to the incoming students, themed "Autumn Breeze Opens the Path to 'Core' Excellence—Building Dreams, Striving Forward, and Writing a Brilliant Chapter." Starting with key remarks from the General Secretary, he delved into the entrepreneurial spirit of Zhang Jian, thoroughly analyzed the current state of the semiconductor industry, and examined the unprecedented global transformations unfolding over the past century. Through this comprehensive overview, he highlighted our critical mission and responsibilities in today’s new era and on our new journey toward self-reliance and strength at an advanced level. Drawing from vivid real-world examples, he also showcased the pivotal role that microelectronics and integrated circuits play in driving innovation within the semiconductor sector—and in propelling China’s progress toward achieving high-level self-sufficiency and technological independence.

Additionally, Dean Shi Lei, drawing on the company’s nearly 30-year journey of development, shared with the students the achievements the company has made under the guidance of a new national system led by the market economy—specifically in areas such as technological innovation, the practical application of advanced productivity models, and the exploration of high-quality growth. He also expressed the company’s sincere commitment to supporting education across industries and providing students with a broad platform for their future endeavors.

Finally, Dean Shi Lei quoted General Secretary Xi Jinping’s remarks made during his participation in the Jiangsu delegation’s review at the Second Session of the 14th National People’s Congress: “National master craftsmen are the cornerstone and pillars supporting the grand edifice of the Chinese nation.” With these words, he encouraged the students, urging them to carry forward the patriotic spirit, open-mindedness, innovative mindset, integrity, and sense of social responsibility exemplified by the pioneering scholar Zhang Jian as they embark on a new chapter in their lives. He also emphasized the importance of solidifying their professional foundations and, through relentless dedication, becoming the very cornerstones and pillars of China’s semiconductor industry.
